“One Life - Many Favourites” by Kuhu, aged 7, from India

To each his own – their favorite thing
I have many - to name a few
Singing, dancing, drawing and making merry

But
My favorite people still are
My family
Even though we shout and fight
With each other
I love them all

But
I love my sisters
More than I love my Mom and Dad
No offence

And I love My Dog Beauty too

Even though Mom doesn’t like her
But
She lets me do everything with her
Playing, brushing, bathing, treating
In all it is lot of fun

I love cycling with Mom too
You know why?
As I find street puppies
In the whole neighborhood
I enjoy petting and feeding them too

I love my Mom,
Even though she doesn’t like or touch them
She lets me play and feed them
Only thing I hate
Is bathing after that

But it is a small thing
For so much fun
Each day abundant love

I love to draw them too
I don’t like so much colouring
But
When I do, I do
And enjoy it too

My favorite place is Goa
The water, the beaches
And I wanted to stay there too
But I had to come back
For the trip had ended too soon

My favorite food is snack
Pizza, cake, pasta
But
At the same time
I am chicken-tarian
And
I love Biryani, chicken forms too…

I am a human being
And I get distracted

But
The whole point is that
I love life
And would want to enjoy it with
My favorite people, places, food and things.

“An Ice Skate” by Scarlett, aged 8, from United States

White as snow
Black as night
Blade so sharp
Like a shiny knife
The toe-pick prickles my finger
Gliding on cold, slippery ice
Long laces pulled tight
A glowing blade below
Toes scrunched like feathers in a pillow
Yet
I love it anyway

“What I Like Is My Family” by Kylian, aged 8, from Mauritius

I like to play Lego and watch Naruto
I like to play Piano and listen to radio
But what I like to do above it all
Is to do magic trick
With my daddy Yannick.

I like drawing and painting
I like dancing in the wind
But what I like to do above it all
Is to do poetry and to sing
With my mummy Sandrine.

I like to eat sandwiches and quiches
I like to eat pizza spaghetti and lasagna
But what I like above it all
Is when my family sit together
To share delicious warm supper.

There are many things I like to do
And many places where I like to be too
But my most favorite activity
Is to spend time with my family.
When we just lay on a rug.
And share a big hug.

“The Snake” by Evelyn, aged 7, from United Kingdom

My favourite animal is snake
Because they are deadly
And they may not be very friendly
Their poisonous bites are certainly deathly

But snakes are colourful
Which makes them beautiful
In the house, it may not very suitable
As they can be unpredictable

Think twice if you want to keep a snake
It might mess up when you bake
If you like making cakes
DO NOT KEEP A SNAKE!

“Bluetit Bird” by Mathilda, aged 7, from United Kingdom

Looking out of a bird box hole,
Seeing all the breezy trees,
Daffodils and blossom too,
Moving all in the breeze,

Tasting worms for my tea,
Where’s my mum and dad for me,
I’m seeing all the daises glee,
All above the leafy tree,

Seeing all the clothes on the line,
Drying in the warm still air,
My shelter in my bird box,
My mum and dad eat some worms but also share.

“Spring Is Here” by Manasa, aged 6, from United States

Spring is a wonderful season.
Flowers bloom here for a reason.
Can you guess that in person.
I hope that can bring celebration.

Flower smell so great.
I'll put them in a crate.
I'll wait for you a the gate.
Sure, I won't be late!!

“Dogs” by Eitan, aged 8, from United States

Fluffy
like air,
With a slobbery mouth,
That never gets cold.
Always warm,
Like a working computer.
Furry skin,
As in two coats, and
Four paws,
and four legs.
No arms,
only legs.
All so soft,
just like silky feathers.

“Spring In My Twinkly Eyes” by Arlene, aged 8, from United States

Bluebells, tulips, and daffodils bloom.
Sparrows chirp lovely tunes.
Many different butterflies fly about.
Plants and trees start to grow all around.

Sunlight stretches for miles around.
Little bunnies pop out of the ground.
Trees and bushes turn lush and green.
Many leaves grow back onto trees.

Rain showers. The lush green grass.
Up high in nests, little birds hatch.
The calm, warm wind quietly blows.
The sky is painted with bright rainbows.

“Food” by Tanudi, aged 9, from Sri Lanka

My favorite dish- is baked bananas,
It’s so tasty,
That it tastes,
Like heaven.

My least favorite dish- is scrambled eggs,
I was ill once- after having it,
So I want to vomit,
When I see it.

Food is important,
For human, animal, and plant livelihood,
So why not eat that plate of veggies?
It’s good for you.

Do you know,
That, people with poverty,
Cannot afford a bite?
So why are you standing there?
Go and give your cabbage casserole a go !!!

“My Dog Zeva” by Griffin, aged 9, from United States

Zeva is obsessed with tennis balls
she fits them in her jaws
she scratches the glass door
with her giant claws
(or you could call them paws)
but they hurt so much!
You are so much faster than me,
you're always in a rush!
and you always run in the slush
You won’t let us clip your nails
whenever we try…
she bails
I love Zeva but that doesn't mean she’s not crazy.
No matter what you do
I will still love you!

“My Favourite Things” by Cerys, aged 9, from United Kingdom

Icky sticky goey slime!!!

“My Sister” by Cameron, aged 9, from United States

You yell at me when I say it is dinner
You punch me when I say good night
and give you a hug, you strangle me
When I wake you up to go to school
you sometimes say, “You stink!”
but in the end I love you
more than games
more than vacation
and even more than bread and butter
Even though you may not love me back
I still love you more than anything!

“My Favorite People: My Mother & My Father” by Amasha, aged 10, from Sri Lanka

My MOTHER…………..
I love you my mother
And you love me too …......
I’ll be with you forever
And will make you happy………….
When I was a baby
You may have carried me like a Dolly…………
You may have sung me songs lovely
To make me sleepy………..
You wash me with soap
And dress me nice frocks………….
Feed me tasty meals
And teach me good habits……….
Thank you my mother
I love you my mother………….
I am your princess
And you are my queen………..

My FATHER …………..
You are like a big tree to me,
As Small plants grow under shade of big trees…..
And get foods from it…..
And as the big tree protects small ones…,
From rain and sun……
You protect me………..
You feed me, love me and teach me good things…..
When I grow up,
I will be a shade to you…….
I’ll feed you, look after you and stay with you…
Thank you very much my father……………
For your loving care
I love you my father........

Poetry & Art: Aged 11-12

“My Favorite Things” by Sreepriya, aged 11, from India

I like many different things,
Things that I like to use,
Those which help me at the perfect time,
And will always be mine.

Books are my favorite,
As they’re always very interesting,
And teaches me something new,
So, I always love it.

I love my guitar,
For it’s beautiful music,
And as it always amuses me,
And always keeps me happy.

I love to see smiles,
When they are the pure ones,
The ones that can make us glad
So, that you are not again sad.

“My Favorite Things” by Amogh, aged 12, from United States

There is no such thing as a favorite thing.
We should love everything equally.
There is no such thing as a favorite person.
We should love everyone equally.
With favorite things people have a reason to fight.
Without favorite things the world could run in peace.
Everyone should be treated equally.
That is what will make us stronger.
And that is most important after all.

“My Favorite Things” by Nathan, aged 11, from Singapore

Smells like Hong Kong
Looks like they are Chinese
Sounds like people speaking Cantonese
Feels like warmth
Feels like happiness
Feels like I am at home

My Favorite Things

(They are family)

“Something You Should Know” by Anderson, aged 11, from United States

Is that I am kind of torn.
As if I’m in a different world.
I want the feel of the wind,
but equally the ease,
of everything bliss.

I really cannot decide,
Between happiness and pride
Should you live in the moment
Or is that happiness lent

For now, it seems that you should
Enjoy moments, best you could.

Poetry & Art: Aged 13-17

“There’s A Lot Of Things” by Harshitha, aged 13, from Singapore

There’s a lot of favorite things
that I can’t choose between,
from the red roses the aunty brings
to the ones that bloom from the grass.

There’s a lot of favorite things
from which I can’t pick from,
be it the cafe’s onion rings
or mummy’s fried rice.

There’s a lot of favorite things
and I can’t decide on one,
like the help for homework from the twins
or the smile of the stranger across the street.

There’s a lot of favorite things
of mine which are hard to select among,
maybe the rock band I listen to
or the nightingale’s beautiful song.

There’s a lot of favorite things
that I can’t settle on one,
from the midnight party with friends in the city
to the countryside farm when the day just begun.

That’s a lot of things, I must say…

“My Favourite Day” by Aditeya, aged 14, from India

Sundays are Fun Days;
Sundays are Happening.
Brunch with my family is what I Like;
Watching movie together gives me Delight.
Off from Work and School;
Keeps me very very Cool.
Early morning cycling and skating with my Papa;
Dancing session with Mom doing Cha-Cha-Cha.
Going for a picnic and walk in the Park;
I love running with my doggy – Spark.
All these things make me Happy;
But the thought of a Monday makes me … Crappy.
